Bernie Watts, drummer
Born July 1st 1975.
Started playing drums aged 13 at school.
Further education at Musicians Institute London, (now the London
School of Music) from 1994 to 1997. Courses studied:
– Drums, Foundation course
– Drums Intermediate course
– Drums, Diploma one year course obtaining Silver Certificate after
– Passsed Grade 7 with Rockschool for drums with a distinction
– Passed Grade 8 exam for drums with Rockschool
Also studied Guitar Foundation Course and drum “Live” Playing
Studied with Steve White (Paul Weller) Bernard Purdie (Aretha
Franklin, B.B. King, and Tina Turner), and Thomas Lang (King
Started teaching late 1997, including at various locations for Make Time For Music including The Thomas Peacocke School in Rye.
At present 16 private drum students and three bass students.
Plays drums mainly with his own band "Bernie Watts Band ".
I have recorded three albums, two EP's and one single between 1999 - 2011 of covers and my own original material.
Does occasional depwork.
Likes all kinds of music, but prefers rock music.
In 2003, Bernie played drums for Peter Green (the
legendry guitarist with Fleetwood Mac. He wrote 'Oh Well', 'Black
Magic Woman', 'Albatross' etc). The gig was at The
Riga Club Southend and the band is called The
Firehouse Blues Band. They supported an American band
called The Fender Band.
In 2012 Media Lynx used my original Music in Japan at two Exhibitions featuring artwork by Bernadette Watts and Satomi Ichikawa played at The Quarter House Folkestone with Tribute bands The Police Squad to over 200 people.
