Bernie Watts, drummer
Born July 1st 1975.
Started playing drums aged 13 at school.
Further education at Musicians Institute London, (now the London
School of Music) from 1994 to 1997. Courses studied:
– Drums, Foundation course
– Drums Intermediate course
– Drums, Diploma one year course obtaining Silver Certificate after
finals.
Also studied Guitar Foundation Course and drum “Live” Playing
course.
Studied with Steve White (Paul Weller) Bernard Purdie (Aretha
Franklin, B.B. King, and Tina Turner), and Thomas Lang (King
Crimson, and
John Whetton).
Started teaching late 1997.
At present 11 private drum students, three bass students and 7 students at Sharons music shop, Ashford.
Also studying Bass Guitar the last 3 years.
Plays drums mainly with his own band "Bernie Watts and the
Burgers".
Does occasional depwork.
Likes all kinds of music, but prefers rock music.
In 2003, Bernie played drums for Peter Green (the
legendry guitarist with Fleetwood Mac. He wrote 'Oh Well', 'Black
Magic Woman', 'Albatross' etc). The gig was at The
Riga Club Southend and the band is called The
Firehouse Blues Band. They supported an American band
called The Fender Band.
